French Antique Ironwork

Throughout the last few centuries, extraordinary French ironworkers applied their skills in both forging and casting to a wide variety of decorative art applications. They provided all manner of outdoor accessories, including balconies, balustrades, garden furniture, sculpture and ornaments. By the Art Deco period, iron forges were also producing indoor furniture. The iron in these is often combined with the use of other materials, such as stone, marble, glass, and mirror. The material may be polished, painted or enameled, depending on taste and function.

Sparrows Inc has a particular fondness for decorative antique wrought ironwork. Our wrought iron selection includes hallracks, tables, gates, grillwork, mirror frames and lighting. Much of it is Art Deco in design or in age, but we also find occasional tables, dining tables, floor lamps and chandeliers in more traditional styles, including Louis XV, Louis XVI, Renaissance and Gothic.

Our antique cast iron selection is limited to highly decorative ornamental pieces, such as grotesque masks, garden urns and ornaments, and interesting garden furniture.
