French Antique Lighting at Sparrows Inc

During the 19th and early 20th centuries, a wide variety of lighting was produced in France as the sources for lighting gradually shifted from candle and oil to gas to electricity. Many old lighting sources were converted from one source to another as time went on. Today, French antique lighting, including chandeliers, floor lamps, table lamps and sconces made for use with any of those materials are available at Sparrows Inc. A number of them can always be viewed in our Online Gallery. If the online gallery does not contain an item to meet your specific needs, please contact us for information regarding other items in stock.

Antique Chandeliers

Sparrows’ selection of French antique chandeliers includes traditional Louis XV, Louis XVI, Renaissance Revival and Empire designs in crystal, bronze and wrought iron, and Art Nouveau and Art Deco period chandeliers with bronze, nickel-plated bronze or wrought iron mounts and signed pressed or art glass shades. We also find fine Venetian glass chandeliers.

Antique Floor Lamps

In French antique floor lamps, Sparrows most often finds country Louis XV designs in wrought iron, and occasionally brings back from our trips to France brass or bronze as well as the Venetian glass floor lamps and Art Deco torchieres from the early 20th century.

Antique Table Lamps

In France, antique table lamps were made in a wide range of materials. There are table lamps made of French or Oriental ceramics pottery, faience and porcelain -- with elaborate bronze mounts. There are bronze or wrought iron candlesticks and candelabra which were converted at some time in the past to table lamps. There are period Art Nouveau and Art Deco lamps with alabaster, pressed or art glass shades. Of course, Sparrows always has a number of unconverted candlesticks and candelabra as well!

Antique Sconces

Finally, Sparrows stocks French antique wall sconces in bronze and wrought iron, with styles once again ranging from Louis XV and Louis XVI traditional through Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
